  • Hello Lovelies,
last Sunday afternoon we went for a gentle stroll with hubby's brother and his family, to an interesting place that I have never visited before.

I do love all things canal, and this spot looked extra pretty in the June sunshine........

The old lock keepers house is now a tea room.............

I loved the signs painted using the traditional canal art colours and designs...........

Look, there's a painted jug in the upstairs window.

HERE'S a lovely example with some information on this traditional craft, I think it's gorgeous.

Along the path the dainty cream Elderflowers bloomed...........

And an ice-cream van parked in the shadiest spot............

This is a place where rivers and canals meet. Moored in the river was a beautifully painted narrow boat........

The path led us along to another canal, where frequent trains thundered over this bridge.....the boys and their cousins were startled, then amused as one passed over our heads.........

the wildlife didn't seem to mind the noise and I loved watching this little sparrow having a dust bath in the middle of the path...........

On the other side on the railway bridge we could see an original stone bridge from the time the canal was first constructed....the 1770's..........

Much prettier ( and quieter )

It was lovely to wander along slowly , stopping to watch a mother Duck and her brood ...... we counted Eleven Duckings........

and passing little pleasure boats ...........

On the other side of the bridge we could see more narrow boats moored in the distance and I would love to have gone to take a closer look, but stormy looking clouds were gathering and we decided to turn around.........

I love the cloud patterns reflected in the canal.

Back at the big river this old rowing boat caught my eye...........

and this amusing sign made us smile.............

The weather was still warn and we couldn't resist sitting in this flower filled pub garden for chat and a refreshing drink..........

Soon we heard the rumble of thunder and we made a dash for our cars as the rain began.
It was great to enjoy the fresh air and good company, exploring somewhere new at this lovely time of year.
